FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
UDC and CTC Showcase Next-Generation Cartridge Technology in Exclusive Live-Fire Demonstration for U.S. Army
ABERDEEN PROVING GROUND, MD β July 30, 2025
UDC USA, Inc. (UDC) and Concurrent Technologies Corporation (CTC) today announced the successful live-fire demonstration of their revolutionary Metal Injection Molded (MIM) high-pressure cartridge cases. At a Small Caliber High-Pressure Cartridge Case Industry Day hosted by the U.S. Army, the UDC-CTC team was the sole participant to provide and test hardware, showcasing the technologyβs readiness and superior performance.
The event, attended by representatives from PM MAS, SOCOM, and other Department of Defense (DoD) agencies, challenged industry to present ammunition capable of operating at pressures 40% to 100% above standard NATO specifications. This leap in performance, enabled by CTCβs patented, single-piece MIM case technology, translates directly to increased velocity and lethality for the warfighter, all while reducing the weight of ammunition.
βBeing the only team to step onto the range and demonstrate a viable, high-pressure solution speaks volumes about the maturity of our technology and the strength of our partnership with CTC,β said Matthew Herring, CEO of UDC. βWe are offering a tangible, proven advancement that meets the Armyβs modernization goals.β
Key Technology Advantages:
Unprecedented Performance: The MIM cases were successfully tested at significantly elevated pressures in multiple calibers, including 7.62mm and 6.5 Creedmoor. This high-pressure capability unlocks gains in muzzle velocity of up to 10% and delivers exceptional accuracy.
Reduced Soldier Load: The advanced stainless alloy construction is up to 30% lighter than traditional brass, reducing the physical burden on the warfighter and easing the logistical footprint.
Manufacturing and Cost Efficiency: The single-piece design resists corrosion and is compatible with existing ammunition loading infrastructure. As copper and brass prices rise, this alloy-based solution offers a cost-effective and reloadable alternative with the added benefit of easy magnetic recovery on the range.
This technology is the result of over 15 years of CTCβs research and development in support of the U.S. Army. The recent exclusive licensing agreement with UDC combines CTCβs deep engineering expertise with UDCβs focused mission to transition advanced ammunition technologies to the defense and commercial markets.
βThese patents and todayβs successful demonstration underscore CTCβs ongoing commitment to transforming ammunition manufacturing for national defense,β said Edward J. Sheehan, Jr., President & CEO of CTC. βWe are excited to work with UDC to get this enhanced capability into the hands of the warfighter.β
The UDC-CTC partnership is poised to adapt this scalable technology for a wide range of DoD programs and additional calibers for both defense and commercial applications.

UDC News - Testing Range
UDCβs 200-meter testing range is now fully operational! Learn more by reading the full article!
Ultra Defense Corp (UDC USA) has some exciting news to kick off 2023. Our Kingsville, Missouri facility now has our 200-meter range fully operational.
The on-site range capabilities include Electronic Pressure Velocity and Action Time (EVPAT), Infrared Ballistic Screens and Radar to capture ammunition velocities, acoustic targets for accuracy, Piezo pressure measuring equipment, and an old-school copper crusher for weapon systems that have not yet transitioned to Piezo. We are very proud of the armor-testing capabilities at this range and are employing those capabilities for customers now. We have a complete quality laboratory on site that includes automated vision systems, waterproof/submersion testing, extreme temperature capabilities and bullet pull to 2,500 lb. The range is capable of small and magnum calibers as well as caliber cannon like 20x102mm currently in production, plus grenade calibers 40x46mm and 40x53mm.
The on-site test firing range and the tools associated with it enable an expeditious product development process. CEO Matthew Herring stated βAside from daily confirmation that we are hitting US MIL SPEC requirements, this on-site testing capability dramatically increases the rate at which we can bring new and more lethal capabilities to bare for the US Government and our allies in the fight against unjust aggression worldwide.β
